In this lesson we found our footage from our first filming that we thought we had lost. We watched over this and thought it looked better than what we had, so we decided to upload this footage with the first actor and use this. So we have started to edit this together to see what shots we need where and if we need anymore for this scene. Then we will carry on as usual. Me and Charli found that there was quite a few bits missing and dedicated some time to get these shots.
In todays lesson we looked over the footage we have so far and looked at what shots we need for the first scene. Although we had thought we were done with our first scene, looking at it once it was put into order we realised we need a few more shots to link between each other, such as the girl just watching TV and an over the shoulder shot of the text message. We also decided to have a split screen shot of both the girls at one time texting each other.
In our last lesson we came across the problem of not being able to get our footage from the camera onto the computer. We asked our teacher how to solve the problem and he charged another camera for us to get the footage on. So the next day during our lunch and free we went into our room and uploaded the footage and put it in order, doing this was helpful as we could see what bits we need to fill in gaps and what we're missing.
In todays lesson my group and I restarted filming our film. We used a different actor who will be our murderer as we realised her timetable fits with our lessons so that when we film she will always be available. We got all the footage we needed with our male actor and inside. Now all we need is all the outside footage with the 'side chick'. However, in this lesson we found a dilemma where we couldn't get the footage from the camera or card onto our computers to save. Learning from our mistakes of last time we knew to ask for help with this, and we came to the conclusion that I will keep the memory card in a safe place so that in tomorrows lesson we can sort it out and put it onto our computers, ready to save onto our own personal memory sticks.
For our mock we will be asked to watch a short clip a couple of times and then write how the camera angle/shot, editing, sound and mise en scene show certain themes throughout the clip (for example, how does this clip present gender roles). Our task is to watch the clips and then after watching it twice make notes under each heading (camera angle/shot, editing, sound and mise en scene).
In todays lesson our clip was on 'Shameless' a TV program shown on channel 4. We were asked to watch the clip multiple times and then we had to answer the question "How does this clip represent class". Heres my answer, The clip of 'Shameless' clearly shows a lower class through many different ways. One of the ways is through mise en scene, the costumes shown on the show are dull and are what are typically thought of as clothes lower class people would wear. This, combined with the dull scenery and would create the feel of a lower class scene. Sound also creates the idea of lower class, as the accents are northern, and in history there was always a divide between the north and south through economy as the southern economy grew and the northern decreased. This is shown on the clip we watched when the man who bought the caravan had a southern accent and was wearing a suit and looked a lot smarter than the family. This guy also screws over the family, showing that the upper class tend to treat the lower classes in that way. The framing shown also shows lower class when the family are in the garden, the framing comes from the fence, which the family seem to over spill out of, which could create the idea that lower class families are big and slightly chaotic. This is all I wrote for the mock before the time was out for the lesson. The past couple of lessons have been used to revise our mocks, so in todays lesson when we got back to filming my group and I discovered a slight problem in that although the camera was there, we couldn't find the memory card we had used during our last filming lesson, so all the footage we got we couldn't find. We sat and spoke about it as a group and decided the best idea would be to start again as it was only the first scene we shot and it didn't take that long, however we'll have to plan for the same actors to be around and in the same place. We also decided the best thing to do is get a memory stick and upload all footage we get during each lesson onto the memory stick so that we all have the footage and we don't get put into this situation again.
During this lesson my group and I started filming our piece. We started with our first scene in the living room (we shot in Hanover's block). We had all our actors and we got some good footage of the scene with the girlfriend and boyfriend together watching TV until the boyfriend leaves the room. We also got the close up of the text sent and the girl reaching for it. We did each shot a couple of times to make sure when it comes to editing we have a selection of footage. To do this, we used the sony cameras and (learning from our mistakes of preliminary task
The past couple of lessons has consisted of my group making the final plans to start filming in January. We had to make a few plans to help with time keeping and putting everything we'll need into one place so that we can keep things organised. Firstly we made a prop and location list, and got release forms sorted so we can bring in the right props and use the actors when they're needed. We then made a shooting schedule so we could keep track of our time and plan out what days and where we'll be shooting, with who and what props are needed.
In the lesson today I wasn't in as I was sick. The girls in my group decided to have 3 main actors to play the main characters. The boy character that cheats on his girlfriend will be played by Josh. The girlfriend will be Tara. And the 'other girl' will be Lucy. The girls caught me up with the final details and our final plot was made. The boy will be caught out by a text from the 'other girl' coming through whilst he's out the room, the girlfriend see's this and angrily seeks revenge creating a fake meeting point with the other girl thinking it's with the boy as the girlfriend creates the plan by texting her on his phone. She then meets her and hits her with a baseball bat. We all have agreed on locations and props.
Last lesson our class individually thought of a our own ideas for an opening of a thriller. After doing this, we were then made to get into groups for filming our thrillers. (My group is Charli, Lucy and me). We looked at each of our story boards and decided which would be best to film for our project. We needed to make sure our plan was achievable yet challenging. After we decided what our final idea was, we made a list of props, people and the locations we would use. At the end of this we decided on the idea of a girl finding out her boy friend was cheating on her and ended up murdering the other girl. We can get hold of every prop we'd need for this, and we have the locations needed available.
