I think because our film is small and amateur, a small independent media institute would distribute our media. I think Channel 4’s Film 4 production would be part of this because it produces many amateur films and has the audience built up because of that.
I also think Channel 4 would have the film on E4, this is because E4 is based on a teen-young adult audience, like our film is. Therefore it will be viewed by many of our targeted audience.
I think this would work rather than a big Hollywood production because we sway from some conventions Thrillers usually follow, by bringing in stereotype issues, it again becomes more of a Channel 4 thing, as many of their independent films target issues around the world, that mainly teenagers (but not always) face.
I believe they would also know how and where to advertise to get our target audience. There would be posters on buses, busstops and around towns, as you typically find teenagers around these areas. They’d also advertise it on their channels to build up as much audience as they could.
They would also advertise on Social Media, as this is how the majority of teens and young adults communicate and is where they see a lot of advertisement. For example, the Channel 4 twitter account would advertise the film in a tweet, and millions of people will see. They could also start a # trend, which is becoming increasingly popualar with films and shows where they hash-tag their film/show name (#Revenge) and it will hopefully build up more of an audience.
Facebooks another way to advertise to teenagers, because again a lot of teens are on facebook and therefore a trailer of the film could be shown, making people want to watch it.
In conclusion, for our targeted audience, going for an independent production from the likes of channel 4 would be best for our media.
